From First Visit to First Opportunity
Erin Keegan first came to the United States when her father, Jon, initially became involved with XPS years ago. At the time, it was simply an introduction to a new industry and a learning experience.
During that early period, Erin was asked to participate in a short video introduction with Chris Lavin. She was hesitant and shy, and in a light-hearted moment, Chris offered her $100 to encourage her to take part. That small moment turned into something far more meaningful over time.
Erin still has that original $100 bill and has never spent it. Instead, she plans to frame it as a reminder of where everything started—the beginning of her family’s journey with XPS Europe and the epoxy industry.
It’s a story that reflects how small moments can carry long-term meaning, especially when they are tied to family, opportunity, and growth.
A True Family Business
Today, XPS Europe is far more than just a business—it is a family operation built on shared responsibility and long-term vision.
Jon Keegan leads the company, overseeing operations, training, and business development. His wife Jillian plays an active role in supporting the business structure and daily operations. Their daughter Erin manages social media and helps shape the brand’s online presence, while their son Matt works in sales and customer engagement.
Together, the Keegan family has built a system that combines training, distribution, and installation services under one unified brand. XPS Europe now operates as a full epoxy flooring hub in the UK, supporting contractors, installers, and business owners looking to enter or grow within the industry.
What stands out most is how naturally the family works together. Each member has a defined role, but the shared mission remains the same: to grow the business, support customers, and create opportunity within the epoxy flooring industry.
Major Industry Collaboration in Miami
The conversation also highlights one of the most exciting recent projects involving XPS Europe and its partners. Jon, along with Garage Style Resin and Liquid Solids Epoxy, collaborated on a high-profile installation in Miami.
The project involved a custom Rockhard metallic epoxy floor installed for automotive content creator and former professional BMX rider Mat Armstrong.
Mat, known for his large YouTube following and automotive restoration content, had recently opened a new commercial garage in Miami and required a premium flooring system that could match both the performance and visual standards of the space.
The result was a custom metallic epoxy system that delivered a high-end, reflective finish designed for durability and aesthetics. The project showcased not only the quality of the Rockhard system but also the level of expertise within the global epoxy community.
For Jon, it was another example of how relationships built through training and industry connections continue to lead to major opportunities years later.
How It All Started in 2017
Jon reflects on how everything changed in 2017 when he attended an XPS epoxy training class in South Florida. At the time, he was simply looking to learn a new skill and explore an industry that was growing rapidly. After seeing an advertisement for the class, he decided to travel from the UK to the United States to attend hands-on training. That decision became the turning point.
During the training, Jon didn’t just learn techniques—he learned the business side of epoxy flooring. He saw the systems, the materials, the processes, and the demand. More importantly, he saw the opportunity to bring that knowledge back to the UK market.
After completing the class, Jon invested in equipment and materials, returned home, and began installing floors himself. What started as small jobs quickly grew into larger projects as demand increased.
Over time, Jon realized that the UK market had significant untapped potential. Contractors needed access to better training, better products, and a structured system to support growth in the epoxy flooring industry. That realization led to the creation of XPS Europe.
Building XPS Europe
XPS Europe was founded as a complete ecosystem for epoxy flooring professionals. Instead of focusing on just one part of the industry, Jon built a full operation that includes:
- A distribution warehouse supplying epoxy products and systems
- A hands-on training center for installers and contractors
- A flooring installation division delivering commercial and residential projects
This combination allows XPS Europe to support both beginners entering the industry and experienced contractors looking to scale their operations.
The goal was simple: remove barriers to entry and provide real-world training backed by real products and real jobsite experience.
Advice for New Contractors
When asked what he would tell someone considering entering the epoxy flooring industry, Jon emphasizes opportunity, but also realism.
Epoxy flooring offers strong margins and significant growth potential, especially for those willing to learn, invest in themselves, and apply the skills consistently. However, like any trade or business, success requires effort, discipline, and investment in tools, materials, and training.
For Jon, the epoxy industry provided a path that was more scalable and financially rewarding than traditional labor-heavy work. It opened doors that extended far beyond installation work alone.
