When I first moved into my house, I had no idea what to use as flooring in my unfinished basement. As a single mom, on a tight budget, I wanted something inexpensive, but durable for spills and dirt from my two teen sons. I found some pictures of Kemiko cement stain, and thought it would be the perfect solution….easy to clean, and no worries about spills and such. I bought a cheap cleaner, and pump sprayer, two stains, and varnish…all for under $200. I cleaned the floor, and then sprayed on Burnt Umber, and then Cola stain onto the floor. After it dried, and I cleaned the “film” off, and did a varnish seal. OMG! With just a $200 budget and working on it over a weekend, my floor looked like beautiful worn leather, it was GORGEOUS! Even the few cracks in my cement floor gave it even more character! It’s been several years (2005), it still is so pretty! Such a beautiful option for those on a tight budget!
